Singular Software S. A. main activities are the development and distribution of shrink-wrapped business software products, the distribution of third-party software products, as well as the provision of professional services related to all these products. The company's software products are divided into two main categories: those that target large enterprises (e.g. Singular Enterprise, Singular Enterprise Express) and require significant added value in services provision (business consulting, project management, training, support, customisation etc.) and those that are suited to small and middle-sized businesses (e.g. Singular Accountant, Singular Control, Office Manager etc.) which possess moderate potential for added value services provision (installation, training and support only).

Providing state-of-the-art software products as well as integrated systems to the Greek private and public sectors, Singular Software aims at establishing long-term relationships with clients in order to become their strategic partner as far as Information Technology is concerned. The company owes its leading market position to its technical superiority in software development and distribution, as well as a strong systems integration division, Internet and e-commerce expertise, an extensive and reliable business partner network and international exposure.

Previous Research Experience (European, National)

The European Projects’ Management Unit projects in Singular Software span over a wide spectrum of research areas, covering e-business services, e-work models, software technologies, knowledge management systems, advanced Internet technologies, intelligent agents based systems, and specific application domains.

Singular Software specialises and provides innovative R&D services in the following areas:

Highly complex Transactional Software Systems (ERP) in the areas of Industry, Business, Finance, Insurance, Health and Public Administration.
Innovative communication technologies supporting Business Applications (e-business, Internet, Intranet, Extranet) in commerce and tourism.
New software methodologies and tools in the areas of object-oriented software, enterprise modelling, requirements specification and distributed development.
Exploration of new application domains for high-end IT solutions.
Consulting in the fields of international co-operation, know-how transfer and deployment of IT solutions worldwide.

The Unit has accumulated significant experience in R&D activities in the IT sector by coordinating cofunded R&D and consulting projects in European and National Level such as:

FP6 IST (IMAGINE IT, ASK IT, INTEROP), 3rd CSFP (PRAXIS, INTEGRA, OMTS), FP5 IST (CASH, ENTER, IMAGE, PANDORA), 2nd CSFP (ELEYSIS, PERIVALLON, HERMITAGE, GLOBAL FINANCE RUSSIA, DG-PRESS, EDI), ESPRIT (ELECTRA, FOODEX) and ESSI (STAMP), INCO (MS-TTC) and PHARE (TEN).

Singular Software’s expected benefits from FUSION

Involvement in the FUSION project is expected to offer Singular Software opportunities for strengthening its position in the “enlarged” European market, since Singular has already established representative offices in 5 countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic). Furthermore, FUSION is viewed as enabler for the development of a company-wide architectural vision towards information and process fusion across the different business application systems of the company (ERP, CRM, and HRMS). Therefore, exploitation of FUSION results will be twofold: incorporating semantically enriched services into company products as well as stimulating the cultivation of a new approach in building software. Singular Solution partners and customers (more than 40.000 in Greece) will benefit from results in process modelling and software integration.
